When Erika Mae Obispo established Retro Glam Manila on the 10th of July with around PhP50,000 to PhP80,000 capital, it was driven by her passion.

“I chose cosmetics/beauty products because mahilig po talaga ako sa ganyan bilang babae,” she said. “Noon pa man, fan na ako ng mga make-up products.”

Of course, it helps that “sa ngayon po, parang boom na boom ang mga beauty products. That’s why po naisip ko: Bakit hindi ko subukan? Libangan ko po ito aside from being a cake artist; and since hilig ko naman din talagang gawin ito, why not?”

There are others who paved the way here – e.g. social media personality Miss Nina of Colourette who also started selling online but now has her own shop in SM.

Nakaka-inspire po,” Erika said.

As an undergrad from FEU, where she took up Tourism, Erika said she never thought she’d go into this line of business.

Akala ko mahirap and nakakatakot din pong hindi mabili ang products,” she said. But now, “thank God sa online selling, naging madali po ang lahat.

This is a challenging business – e.g. “Marami din po akong kalaban sa ganitong business.”

But Erika said: “Confidence lang. Na alam ko po ang product ko ay maganda at affordable po.”

And yes, she already attained ROI even this early.

Pero as of now, ginalaw ko po ulit para kumuha pa ng madaming stocks para paikutin,” she said.

And for people who may want to also open their business, what tips can Erika give?

Magtiwala lang po sa sarili. Magsipag kahit minsan walang benta. Wag pong mawalan ng pag-asa. Sipag na may halong prayers po,” she ended.
