Abigail Bacatan opened BOYTapsi with hubby Wilson Bacatan with roughly PhP70,000. But going into business was a no-brainer.

“I dared my husband to make a ‘tapsi’ na kasing sarap nung kinakainan namin and he did it and it even tasted better. Kaya talagang di na kami napigil to open a small ‘tapsihan‘,” Abigail said.

“Tapsi” are – basically – rice meals, with a serving already inclusive of rice, viands and fried eggs/omelettes. The term is derived from an earlier combo, the “tapa”, “sinangag” (fried rice) and “itlog” (sunny side up or fried egg).

And their offerings are making a dent in the food industry.

“We offer affordable ‘tapsi’, and our bestsellers – tapsilog (PhP97) Menudo Caviteño (PhP1,500 for a party size) and Pansate (PhP110) – talagang binabalik-balikan,” she said.

They take pride that “we offer the best and di tinipid na pagkain.”
